Chatsworth House (6 miles) is a surprisingly good choice for a hike as there are easy or difficult trails from Stand Wood and Calton Lees car park, so pack your boots and a picnic and explore.
This lovely property is a tale of two halves, with separate access to two self-contained apartments. The downstairs property has a contemporary feel with exposed stonework and warm hues. There is a wet room available on the ground floor. Both apartments have kitchen areas, comfortable sofas and a TV in the lounge and king-size bedrooms. The upstairs apartment has a clean and contemporary feel, with a wood burner for snug evenings after a day of adventure and a bathroom with a shower over the bath. Outside is a lovely patio area where you can fire up the BBQ and sip on a glass of something chilled with friends or family.
For visitors of all ages, there are plenty of activities to choose from in the Peak District. Bakewell (9 miles) is famous for Bakewell Pudding, so purchase one and then head off for many cycling or walking adventures along the Monsal Trail. If you have a head for heights, ride the cable car at Matlock Bath (9 miles) and explore the Heights of Abraham or go underground on a guided tour of one of the natural limestone caverns. Hikers and mountain bikers can drive to Castleton (20 miles) or Hathersage (14.5 miles) for some of the best walks and routes in the Peak District.
