An inviting country cottage set opposite the banks of the River Derwent in the scenic area of the Peaks, referred to locally as ‘Little Switzerland’. This homely hideaway is the perfect escape for outdoor enthusiasts and leisure-seekers alike. Drink in the panoramic views of the Derwent Valley as you ascend past the rugged limestone cliffs via cable car at the Heights of Abraham, then stretch out in the ambient warmth of your flickering flame-effect gas fire and catch up over a tipple.

This well-presented property boasts a warm country interior with vibrant splashes of colour, warm wood, and welcoming social areas. Shed coats and boots at the door, then scope out the lounge. Flop down amongst the plump scatter cushions with a brew or raid the books and games selection. With plenty of seating, this is a wonderful space for unwinding together in the evenings with a crowd-pleasing movie on the Smart TV. Pour a drink and potter in the crisp shaker-style kitchen as you whip up a comforting spread. Tempt everyone into the dining area with the irresistible scent of home cooking then raise a glass and toast to your special occasion. Ascend the staircase to the sleeping areas spread across the first and second floor, one with an en-suite shower room, and each styled in soft calming tones. Throw open the patio door leading from the kitchen and soak up some sun rays as you sip your morning cuppa.

Early risers can step out and enjoy an easy morning amble along the burbling banks of the River Derwent and follow the trail into Matlock, 400 metres, to load up on flaky pastries and frothy coffee from one of the independent cafes. Scooch in for a victory photo atop the craggy summit of High Tor, 3 miles from Matlock centre, then descend through the river gorge to Matlock Bath, within 2 miles. Don't miss a visit to the charming town of Bakewell, 9 miles, to admire the impressive architecture and load up on the local delicacy.

cottage was lovely and clean and well kept, a short walk into Matlock to get something to eat, wander around the shops and catch the train. the quarrying work was a bit noisy but as you had warned us 9late on Friday) we just arranged to be out more during the day

Cottage is really well equipped/furnished. Just a short stroll from Matlock & Matlock Bath with a good choice of places to eat. Good walks direct from the cottage or just a short drive or bus ride away.

This cosy, well maintained cottage is ideal for visiting Matlock and the Peak District. The owners have obviously put a lot of thought and care into the property with comfortable furniture in the lounge and a well equipped kitchen. We enjoyed our stay at this lovely house. The house was very clean and well equipped with everything you could need. The beds were comfortable although king sized would have been preferable to the doubles. The lounge had 3 large sofas so plenty of room for 6 adults and a baby. Very nice property. There were five of us and it was perfect for that number. Everything was supplied for our stay and the location on the outskirts of Matlock was ideal. Five minute stroll to local bars, restaurants and takeaway suppliers. Ten minute stroll into Matlock town and 20 minute walk to Matlock bath and all its facilities. Couldnt fault Read morethe accommodation, if you could just dial up better weather ! Hide

A modern, comfortably furnished and very clean property. Matlock is a pleasant town and a good base for exploring the Peak District. If you're a National Trust member Hardwick Hall is excellent!

Good location for "transport" activities - we visited Tramway village, Peak Railway, Cromford Canal Boat, Car Museum. Also visited Cromford Mill, Well Dressing at Tissington, Bakewell and Hardwick Hall. Lots to do in smalll area so didn't have to travel far.
