A truly unique holiday retreat, this former chapel promises a very special Peak District stay. Situated in the hamlet of Oker in the beautiful surroundings of Wensley Dale, 2.5 miles from Matlock, this two-bedroom hideaway sleeps four guests and is well positioned for enjoying the area. Step out from here to walk up to picturesque Stanton Moor, 2 miles away, or hike 2.5 miles to see the Nine Ladies Stone Circle, a bronze age site believed to depict nine ladies who were turned to stone as a penalty for dancing on Sunday. Spend an interesting afternoon at Chatsworth House, 7 miles away, where you can tour the stately home and wander the gardens, and visit Bakewell, 6.5 miles away, to sample its famous pudding.
Enter the chapel via an entrance hall with a flagstone floor where you can leave your coats and boots. The heart of the holiday home is its spectacular lounge, which is accessed by three steps and has a high vaulted ceiling, impressive church windows and oak staircase up to a galleried mezzanine reading area above (beware of the low headroom!). This spacious lounge is the perfect place to relax on comfortable seating, as you watch TV with the wood burner crackling in the background. The kitchen/diner is also a very spacious room. Here the wooden floor adds character and there is ample space for cooking and dining together. The bedrooms at the chapel, which are also accessed by taking three steps up, include a double and a twin, and there is a family bathroom.
There is a patio area at this property where guests are welcome to bask in the sunshine and enjoy the fresh air whenever the weather is fine.
